SYRIA - Bloody Sunday at Banias

The demonstrations against the regime of Bashar Assad, which began in mid-March, focused on April 10 in the coastal city of Banias, located in north-west, pan-Arab daily reported. Witnesses said security forces opened fire, leaving four dead and dozens wounded among civilians. Following a day of protest, the army tanks were deployed around the city and outside communications were cut.
