Thousands of inhabitants of Alphen aan de Rijn (west) and the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte were collected on April 10, holding candles, near a shopping center where the day before, a young Man killed six people with automatic weapons before killing himself. A dozen people were injured. The gesture of the shooter remains unexplained: the farewell letter he left to his parents, he expresses his unhappiness and his desire for suicide, but no signs of the tragedy.
