UNITED STATES - Obama urges fight against deficits

In his speech before Congress on April 13, Barack Obama has proposed measures to control budget deficits in the long term, the announcement day. "We're going to have to make sacrifices," said the president. But we must not sacrifice America in which we believe. " Obama wants to reduce the deficit of 4 000 billion over twelve years, while U.S.

debt stands at over 14 000 billion. Main solutions: raising taxes for the wealthy and lower public spending. Following this announcement, the Republicans have reaffirmed their opposition to any tax hike. The newspaper said the president's remarks "constituted the most important advance in the budget debate."
