Seven killed in an accident in Bordeaux

Seven people died in the early hours of Thursday when a minibus hit a truck had overturned on the A10 motorway north of Bordeaux (southwest France). The prefecture (delegation of the Government) of the Gironde department said the accident occurred shortly after midnight at the height of the town of Marcillac and that the dead were the driver of the truck and the six occupants of the minibus, who apparently came the region of Paris and headed south.

A spokeswoman said Efe that according to the first elements of the investigation, the truck driver fell asleep and that caused her to lose control of his vehicle, which was overturned on the road. Then the minibus, which according to sources from the prefecture was traveling at great speed, "probably to 130 kilometers per hour, maximum speed French motorways," was rammed into the truck.

The motorway towards Bordeaux and Spain was closed to traffic until 08.00 local time
