Japan bans the sale of a mushroom grown outdoors in Fukushima

Tokyo .- The Government of Japan has banned the sale of shiitake mushrooms grown outdoors in Fukushima prefecture, where the plant is located in the same name that has unleashed a nuclear emergency, the high levels of radioactivity detected in these food. In a press conference, Chief of Staff, Yukio Edan, clarified that the measure only affects the species of fungus from thirteen cities and three villages in the prefecture, while has qualified excludes grown in greenhouses.

The towns affected are Date, Soma, Minamisoma, Tamura, Iwaki, Shinchi, Kawamata, Namie, Futaba, Okuma, Tomioka, Nahara and Hirono, and people Iitate, Katsurao and Kawauchi, according to Kyodo news agency. It is not the first time that the Japanese authorities imposed restrictions on the marketing of certain products.
