Recep Tayyip Erdogan became the first March 29 Turkish leader to visit Iraqi Kurdistan, where he inaugurated the new airport in Erbil, built by a Turkish company. For the occasion, the city of Erbil was decorated with Turkish flags. Erdogan also met Massoud Barzani, president of the autonomous region of northern Iraq.
