France and Italy will patrol the coast of Tunisia together to halt immigration

France and Italy have decided to organize "joint patrols in the Tunisian coasts to stop the exits" of illegal immigrants, as stated by the Italian Interior Minister Roberto Maroni, after a meeting with his French counterpart Claude Guéant. "Neither Italy and France plan to host Tunisian immigrants, Guéant has made it clear during the press conference in Milan, after a one-hour meeting with his Italian counterpart.

Both have also called for "a joint effort between our countries and the European Union." Maroni has also advanced the formation of a joint working group to carry out initiatives in the subject matter.
