NATO seeks agreement to control all operations in Libya

Brussels. .- The NATO countries will seek an agreement to take control of all military operations in Libya after assuming command of the air exclusion zone imposed against the regime of Muammar al-Gaddafi. To that end, the Allied ambassadors will meet starting at 16.00 GMT on the organization's headquarters in Brussels, diplomatic sources said.

Is expected to achieve a final agreement if the Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, as made public tonight. Otherwise, the talks would continue over the coming days. Last Thursday, NATO negotiated to take over the maintenance of an air exclusion zone declared by the Security Council of the United Nations and a coalition of volunteers led by France, the United Kingdom and the United States undertook to execute.

If it happens to take control of all operations, the Alliance also control missions against ground targets to protect the civilian population Libyan attacks which have so far developed three countries. Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, Canadian Air Force, will be responsible for NATO operations in Libya.
