Arrived in Italy the first ship with immigrants from Libya

The first ship with immigrants from Libya arrived this evening in southern Italy with about 300 people on board, according to coast guard and aid agencies located in Lampedusa. The boat, the first to hit Italy since the beginning of the rebellion against Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, had left Tripoli on the night of Thursday to Friday.

Most of the passengers in it were ETIP and Eritreans, including 80 women and 12 children. Apparently, the boat began taking on water, which caused an engine failure that made him the verge of naugrafar. The Italian coast guard and drove in the sighted to the island of Linosa, cerna of Lampedusa, where they are being served by volunteers.

An Ethiopian woman who gave birth on board, was rescued on Saturday by an Italian military helicopter. It was first taken to a hospital with her baby and Lampedusa were subsequently be relocated in a Sicilian hospital. Finally, another pregnant woman was also taken to hospital in Lampedusa, ended up losing her baby.

Upon reaching Linosa, immigrants were taken on a ferry to Porto Empedocle, Sicily, where they will be sent to a shelter for asylum-seekers.
