The White House released on Wednesday by the official birth certificate of Barack Obama to the growing debate in the country about whether the president was born in the U.S. or not, reported the official residence. As indicated in a statement Wednesday Dan Pfeiffer, communications director of the official residence, doubts about the veracity of the single copy of the certificate, which is all that was available at this time, led the White House to request version complete.
"We have no time for this nonsense. We have important things to do," Obama said in a brief appearance before reporters. The certificate confirms reported that Obama was born in Honolulu (Hawaii) on August 4, 1961. Obama is scheduled to appear at 9:45 am (1345 GMT) at his official residence to inform its decision.
The publication of the certificate comes after several potential presidential candidates like New York tycoon Donald Trump questioned by the birthplace of Obama. Trump reiterated its concerns Monday in an interview with CNN, which said he was told that the certificate had been "lost." A recent survey by CNN found that 75% of Americans believe that Obama had "definitely" or "probably" born in the United States.
Among Republicans, however, the perception is different and more than four in 10 believe that "probably" or "definitely" the president was not born in the country. The U.S. Constitution says that only people born in America can become president. Skeptics argue, among other things, that Obama was born in his father's native country, Kenya.
