The Dalai Lama will be the political leader of Tibet

Dharamsala (India) (Editorial / Agencies) .- The Dalai Lama, the Buddhist spiritual leader of the Tibetan people and all those who embrace this way of life, has announced its intention to stop being the political leader of the Tibetan government in exile. "Already in 1960, pointed out that Tibet needs a leader chosen freely by the people, we have now reached the point of putting this into practice", said during a speech to mark the 52 anniversary of the insurrection in Tibet against China.

"My desire is to transfer authority has nothing to do with giving up the responsibilities," added the Dalai Lama. The Tibetan leader has always been himself "semi-retired" from political leadership. At 76 years, the Dalai Lama considers to be withdrawn from the political leadership. Will remain the spiritual leader of Tibet, but believes it must give way to a new leader to continue fighting for autonomy.

The Dalai Lama, who fled Tibet in 1959 after a failed uprising against China, now lives in exile in northern India city of Dharamsala, and advocates an "autonomy" significant for Tibet within China. The prime minister of the exiled Tibetan gobieno, Samdhong Rinpoche has said that it is still unclear if the parliament accepted the resignation of the Dalai and warned of a constitutional impasse.

Beijing considers the Lama as a dangerous separatist responsible for raising discomfort in Tibet. On Monday, brought further pressure on insisting he has no right to choose his successor, and must follow the historical and religious tradition of reincarnation.
