A press photographer was shot in the leg and two others were injured in clashes between Protestants and Catholics in Belfast. Police say that in this second night of clashes around 700 people threw incendiary devices at the heart of the city.
Police responded by firing smoke grenades. Two men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after both sides fired guns. The outbreak of violence comes at the beginning of the season marches in Northern Ireland, a time when Protestant parades in the past led to violent protests by Catholics.
