The UN General Assembly elected the top diplomats from South Korea on Tuesday night again for the post of Secretary General. Last week the Security Council had already given him confidence. The approval of the 192 UN Member States in the plenary was by acclamation.
Ban Ki-moon's second term begins on 1 January 2012 and runs until the end of 2016. Ban against human rights activists were to have held back, especially with regard to dealing with dissidents in China too much. With the upheavals in the Arab world, but at least he denounced human rights violations.
