The police attacked a march by university students in Algiers

Algerian riot police on Tuesday charged against some 3,000 university students attempted to march in protest at the government headquarters in Algiers, according to Efe found. This comes after the clashes that took place on Monday, during which 20 students were injured. The students, on strike for about two months, wanted to express their opposition against the government's decision to reform university education and to demand a reshaping of the curriculum.

The march was to begin at 11.00 local time at the Post Office building and end at the government headquarters, less than a kilometer of travel, but hundreds of police equipped with batons and shields, took the early hours of the morning the center of the Algerian capital to protest abortion.

The police charge occurred before the scheduled start of the march. Students then cut M'hidi Ben Avenue, one of the main arteries of the Algerian capital, blocking traffic and forcing shopkeepers to close their businesses. Significant reinforcements were sent to the scene, but the students managed to walk several hundred yards to meet in the vicinity of the central university and the organizers decided to change the itinerary to go to the headquarters of the Presidency.

One of the protesters've accomplished to reach the periphery of the presidential palace, but found again in front of a strong device of riot police backed by trucks with water cannons. Finally, the students returned to the center just south of the capital where there was tense atmosphere
