Syrian police dissolve two opposition demonstrations in Damascus

Damascus / Beirut - Syrian police cracked down today two opposition demonstrations in Damascus, in a central square and in the southeastern suburb Mezzeh, informaton witnesses. In both places had gathered several hundred young. Meanwhile, about a thousand supporters of the Syrian president, Bashar Assad, visited Damascus in their car in a counter-demonstration in favor of the regime.

Participants waved national flags and shouted: "This is Assad's Syria!".
