The French Finance Ministry, the victim of a major cyber attack

The French Ministry of Economy and Finance has been the victim of a cyber attack "unprecedented," Paris-Match has revealed. According to a source close to the investigation, the Treasury would have been the main victim of hackers. Pailloux Patrick, the general director of the National Security Agency Information Systems, has admitted that the attack targeted the main documents relating to the presidency of the G-20 fracesa and international economic affairs.

"This is organized professionals. It is the first attack against the French state of this magnitude." In total, 150 computers of the ministry has been attacked and many documents have been pirated. None of this information relates to individuals. The origin of the attack has not yet been established.

"We have found some information had been redirected to Chinese site. But this does not mean much," said a senior official on condition of anonymity. In early January of this year jumped the first alarm by an infiltration in the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The attack had begun several weeks earlier.

The method of spies is classic, but very effective. From an e-mail hacked, the hacker takes control of a computer using a 'Trojan horse', ie a 'software' mailcioso usually allows remote control of an infected computer. From your computer open the spy enters the workplace. "It's like a metastasis, it spreads very fast," says a specialist.

Those responsible for security of IT systems have proceeded to make numerous checks, particularly at the Elysée Palace (seat of the presidency of the state) and Matignon (seat of government) to ensure that the fire has not spread. "For two months, between 20 and 30 people working day and night on this issue.

The hackers tried to attack other ministries, but it appears to have performed in one case, officials say. It will take several weeks to identify the 150 officials who have been the subject of espionage and to ensure the computer system again. The last stone was laid last weekend with a huge maintenance affecting 12,000 jobs out of a total of 170,000 at their disposal the services of the ministry.
