Berlusconi's defense wants Clooney and Cristiano Ronaldo Ruby testify in the case

The chief defense of the Italian Government, Silvio Berlusconi, has proposed that the U.S. actor George Clooney and his girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, and the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as a witness in the 'case Ruby', in which Berlusconi is accused child prostitution and abuse of power.

"It seems strange, because I have met only once and it was Berlusconi in an attempt to get help for Darfur," Clooney said after meeting the intentions of the defense of Il Cavaliere, as BreakingNews. com. Currently there have transcended the reasons why witnesses were cited as chief of the Italian Government.

On Tuesday, the prosecution and defense of Berlusconi have submitted their lists of witnesses to the case. It so happens that the young Moroccan Karim El Marough, known as Ruby heartthrob, has been called as a witness by both parties. The list of witnesses by the defense of Il Cavaliere includes 78 names.

"We have proposed as witnesses, among others, George Clooney, but also to Ministers Franco Frattini [owner of Foreign Affairs], Mara Carfagna [Equality] and Maria Stella Gelmini [Education]," said a lawyer close to the case cited by AFP. The ministers, according to the defense, would be cited for their participation in the dinner at the residence that the prime minister has in Arcore, near Milan.

They have also been called to testify about "the ways and times" in those who knew Ruby and determine where they were and what they did on the evening of February 14, 2010 when, according to the prosecution, Ruby went first to the Berlusconi residence. According to La Repubblica, the list also include Cristiano Ronaldo, Elisabetta Canalis, LDP parliamentarians Paolo Bonaiuti, Valentino Valentini, Maria Rosaria Rossi, and the 'showgirl' Aida Yespica, TV stars Barbara D'Urso and Belen Rodriguez, and as the Neapolitan singer Mario Apicella, usually accompanying Berlusconi at his parties and musical performances and with whom he recorded two albums.

The fact that a proposed defense witness does not automatically mean that the court will accept it. The judges could consider the testimony is irrelevant. For its part, the Milan prosecutor has submitted a list of 132 witnesses, including Ruby, who, according to prosecutors, Berlusconi were intimate when she was underage.

Among those cited by prosecutors also include 32 girls, of age, who attended the alleged sexual parties organized at the residence of head of the Italian Government in Arcore, near Milan. The trial against Berlusconi by this 'affair' should start on 6 April before the Court of Milan.
