Shot dead one of Mexico's most wanted drug traffickers

Ciudad Juárez. .- A senior leader of a group of drug traffickers in northern Mexico, and by whom the Mexican authorities offered a reward of 5 million pesos, was shot dead during a clash with the Federal Police in the city of Chihuahua, reported the Attorney General. Luis Humberto Peralta Hernández El Condor was considered a leader of the Juarez cartel, antagonistic group of the Sinaloa cartel, with which much of the disputed border between Mexico and the United States strategic for drug trafficking.

Peralta, who is related to at least 96 executions, was wanted for about five years for murder and organized crime, authorities said in a press release. The shootout that occurred was killed Tuesday afternoon in the busiest street in the city of Chihuahua, and the time of the incident was carrying a false identity card.

Peralta Hernandez worked in the Attorney General of the State of Chihuahua, which he joined in 2000 and resigned in March 2009, when he held the post of commander, the statement of the prosecution. According to newspaper archives, was arrested by the Office of Special Investigations on Organized Crime (SIEDO) in September 2008 along with five other ministerial police, homicide and organized crime but was released.

The charges stemmed from the seizure of four rifles with which they had committed nearly a hundred murders, one of those weapons was assigned to Peralta Hernández. The Condor appeared last year in the list of most wanted by the PGR, and offered five million pesos reward for his capture.

In addition to Tuesday's shooting down Peralta, were arrested three of his accomplices, who were transferred to Mexico City for questioning.
