LIBYA - Impressions of a War "lazy and primitive"

Vassil Donev is the only Bulgarian journalist to work in Libya since the airstrikes began. Photographer for the European Press Agency (EPA), is based in Benghazi, the headquarters of the opposition, which radiates on different fronts. He delivers an original vision of a war "lazy". "In recent days, there were no major military operations.

Anyway this war is strange, somewhat indolent, specific to the South: Here, you fight a little day to rest at night. The casualties among the insurgents are not only the fact of forces loyal to Gaddafi but also many incidents from ignorance of the military equipment they handle. stray bullets, explosions of ammunition ...

The other day Ajdabia, town held by insurgents, a young boy killed himself while playing with a shell that exploded in his hands. "Four days ago, three young people from fifteen years have triggered a sudden fire heavy machine gun: not only are they injured, but they also injured several people.

Their elders are not necessarily better soldiers. A few days ago, still Ajdabia, the rumor spread that a sniper forces Gaddafi was hiding in a building in the city. The latter was destroyed suddenly shells, we found no trace of the gunman, however one resident the city is dead. But we can not speak of carnage either; the side of the loyal forces, the bulk of the losses inflicted by the NATO strikes on military armored.

Among locals, it is rumored that the tankers were handcuffed inside the tank, so they do not abscond ... In Benghazi, all is quiet. Pulling shots, it is in the air to express joy. Stores are stocked on an irregular basis, but there are the basics - including mineral water bottles. Some restaurants, including two of them specializing in fish, have reopened their doors, a pizzeria, too - you can eat for about 4 euros.

Gasoline is, however, very cheap, almost free: ten cents per liter. In this war, we can not talk about frontline. Everybody move all the time. Thus, Ajdabia changed hands several times. The insurgents are mainly grouped on the main road between Ajdabia at Brega. Occasionally, they shoot shells, rockets, small missiles they have recovered here and there - all fairly approximate.

When they are being bombed, even remotely, they mount their vehicles and turned back by pulling in all directions ... Overall, this is a war rather primitive, chaotic. "
