The rebels say they have taken Sirte, Gaddafi and door city of Tripoli

A rebel spokesman has said that Sirte, the hometown of dictator Muammar Gaddafi, is now fully controlled by insurgents. According to his testimony, they found very little resistance from troops loyal to Qadhafi. The news of the fall of Sirte was held in Benghazi, the epicenter of the revolt and 'capital' of the rebels.

For now, there has been no independent confirmation of this fact and some of the few correspondents who are in the city say the enclave remains in the hands of Gadhafi. Gadafistas forces fighting the rebels in the town of Naufaliya, about 147 kilometers southeast of Sirte, according to the Qatari Al-Jazeera network.

The rebels have advanced 400 kilometers in two days and have recovered several strategic cities such as Adjabiya, Brega and Ras Lanuf. In Sirte, this morning, nine have been heard loud explosions, presumably a result of allied air raids on the city, according to an AFP journalist that he could not specify the damages caused by these attacks against those who, as stated, did not respond regime's anti-aircraft batteries.

A Reuters reporter said he saw a convoy of two dozen military vehicles heading out of Sirte to Tripoli, followed by civilian vehicles. The cities of Sirte have focused Misrata and military activity during the day on Sunday, their strategic nature. During the last hours, the rebels have conquered the coastal cities from east to west, leaving only Sirte, a particularly important since it represents one of the bastions, if not the main Gaddafi.

In fact, is where the Colonel used to receive and entertain their guests preferred and considered one of the main tribal feuds. It can swing the fate of his regime over 41 years. "Sirte is the key, followed by Muhamad Mergirby, rebel spokesman," because if we drop the open road to Tripoli.

" In the capital have also heard shots in the final hours, while Reuters reported that the Allies were bombing this morning Sabha. This location is relevant, since many fans have moved Gaddafi to it from Sirte.
