The Arab League could impose a no-fly zone

The Arab League announced on Wednesday that would impose an air exclusion zone over Libya, in coordination with the African Union. "The Arab League will not stand with their hands tied while spilling the blood of the brotherly Libyan people," said Amr Moussa, secretary general of the body. Until now, the League had shown against the imposition of a zone of "no fly" when considering that it would harm Egypt, which has many citizens living in the neighboring country and those who could not evacuate if necessary.

Arab foreign ministers also include the possible deployment of an Egyptian-Algerian delegation to Tripoli to open a dialogue with the Libyan leader, Muammar Qaddafi, and find "safe passage" for himself and his family. However, the league did not specify whether this initiative is about Gadhafi leaves office or the country.

Earlier, a senior diplomat, who requested anonymity, revealed that the foreign ministers had agreed to defer until the May 15 summit of Arab heads of state would be held on March 29 in Baghdad for "current events the Arab world. " At that summit, Libya, which holds the rotating presidency of the pan-Arab organization, should be transferred to Iraq, the host of the event.
