The number two of Al Qaeda, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, was killed in Pakistan, as indicated on Saturday a senior U.S. official. Without elaborating on the circumstances of his death, the aforementioned source said Atiyah Abd al-Rahman was killed in the Waziristan tribal area on Monday August 22.
Responsible for the tribal region AFP had declared this week a U.S. drone fired at a vehicle in the region and killed four people. In October 2010, Pakistani intelligence and left for dead 'Abd al-Rahman, allegedly attacked by a drone in the same U.S. region. According to ABC, Abd al-Rahman had become the number two of the organization after the death last May 1, its leader, Osama bin Laden, who was replaced by Ayman al Zawahiri.
