The Italian parliament does not want Berlusconi to be tried 'case Ruby'

Rome .- The Italian Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday finally decided to bring before the Constitutional Court the existence of a conflict of competence against the Court of Milan in the judicial process by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, the so-called 'Ruby case. " By only 12 votes behind, full of the Lower House decided manner assist the initiative of Berlusconi's party, the People of Freedom (PDL), and other groups of the government majority to raise a conflict of authority in the case.

In recent weeks, prosecutors in Milan have insisted that the approach of conflict of jurisdiction will not stop Berlusconi trial for alleged abuse of power and incitement to prostitution of minors, whose trial is scheduled to begin Wednesday. The government majority that the Court of Milan has no jurisdiction to try charges of abuse of power Berlusconi, based on phone call from Prime Minister on May 27, 2010 to take a police station the young Moroccan, known as Ruby R., arrested for theft.

Since Berlusconi defends his party as acted by "institutional reasons" to make that call, thinking it was the niece of then Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, should be the Court of Ministers to take charge of the case and therefore has been to raise the conflict of authority. The close vote on Tuesday in plenary is further reflection of the tight vote last March 23 in the Board for authorization of the Chamber of Deputies, where by 11 votes to 10 was approved a resolution urging the Parliament to raise the conflict of jurisdiction.

"Today is another day of usual crazy because, while outside the world on fire, engulfed in wars and nuclear emergencies, the Italian Parliament met only are here to deal with judicial matters of the prime minister, said during the plenary session of the opposition leader party Italy of Values (IDV), Antonio di Pietro.

"Who now will help save the Prime Minister of processes actually become complicit in politically. Not for the Parliament to establish whether 'Ruby heartthrob' is or is not Mubarak's niece," he added. Tuesday's vote came on a day of demonstrations in Rome against the "laws ad personam", whose alleged purpose is to defend the interests of the prime minister.

The Milan daily Corriere della Sera published Tuesday three wiretapping Prime Minister made during the investigation of the Prosecutor of Milan and included in the summary of the case. In them, Berlusconi says that the important thing is that "there are several people" stating that Ruby told him he had a different age than it actually was and that, anyway, he and I sing have not done " nothing wrong.

" According to the Prosecution, "heartthrob Ruby, born on November 1, 1992, had sex with Prime Minister thirteen times at his home in Arcore (near Milan), from 14 February to 2 May 2010 , while still a minor.
