Farewell to Granado

Alberto Granado is dead, Ernesto Che Guevara friend in his famous motorcycle trip to South America. Granado, 88, died Saturday, March 5 in his sleep at his home in the Miramar district of Havana, his ashes will be scattered between Cuba, Venezuela and Argentina, had written it as' his last wish.

The autobiography of the boy who traveled with Che Guevara in motion and followed the revolution in Cuba, was the first experience of real social and political awareness for the young Argentine. Born in Cordoba on 8 August 1922, he became a friend of Ernesto Granado when he was a child.

Guevara continued his journey to Miami and then returned to Argentina to complete his studies. In 1956, Guevara joined the group of Fidel and Raul Castro, who sailed from Mexico to Cuba aboard the ship Granma. The revolution brought them to overthrow the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista on January 1, 1959.

THE DOCTOR - A little later, in 1960, Guevara urged the island's old friend Granado, who decided to stay and live there with his family, teaching biochemistry at the University of Havana. In 1962 he founded with a group of colleagues in the Faculty of Medicine at Santiago, where he taught from 1970 to 1974.

Since he moved, Granado has always lived on the island keeping a low profile.
