Syria blames the incident a "terrorist"

Madrid .- The Syrian information minister, Mohsen Bilal, said Friday that the situation is "totally at peace throughout the country" and claimed that recent incidents in Deraa (in the south, the epicenter of opposition protests) and in the whole of Syria have been caused by "terrorists." "The situation is totally at peace in all the Syrian provinces," said Bilal told the Cadena SER collected by Europa Press.

Deraa incidents and the rest of the country, he claimed, was caused "by terrorists" who have been "interrogated". "Soon everyone informed of who they are," he announced, without giving details. In any case, he said, these "terrroristas" posed a "threat to national security Civic across the country, of the 14 provinces of Syria, and proposed to carry out" a global revolution.

" Bilal also compared Deraa incidents to the attacks of March 11, 2004 in Madrid, where "everybody supported the Government of Spain, the people of Spain." The Minister also said that "terrorists and radicals" had called for demonstrations for Friday, but "is entirely peaceful climate throughout the nation and there is no tumult of any kind." The only people who have taken to the streets, he said, have done "to praise the Syrian Government's decision" that "last night announced a package of historic decisions." The package "historic" Executive of Bashar Assad "is already in effect since yesterday," and includes "a law on political parties, a law on media, a public law and a law against corruption," Information Minister said.

Besides, "we immediately released prisoners, and increased by 30 percent the wages of the workers," he added. The government of Bashar al-Assad vowed on Thursday to consider lifting the state of emergency in force since 1963, and draft a new law on political parties and a new press law under a series of reforms.

He also announced the formation of a committee for dialogue with the citizens of Deraa, where protests against the regime have caused over 40 deaths over the past week. In a statement, Amnesty International condemned the response last night "brutal and sudden" the Syrian authorities to the demonstrations and charged that security forces had ended the lives of dozens of people inside and around Deraa.
