Gaza. .- Two Palestinian militants from Islamic Jihad were killed and three others injured today in the Gaza Strip in an airstrike by the Israeli army, Palestinian medical sources said. As confirmed by Adham Abu Salmiya, emergency service spokesman in Gaza, the attack occurred early in the morning in the region of Jabalia in northern Gaza.
The Israeli military confirmed in a statement this morning, "a plane of the Israeli Air Force identified a group of rocket launchers ready to fire a rocket into the Israeli home front from northern Gaza and thwarted the attempt by shooting them . confirmed to have been white. " Palestinian witnesses in the area reported that the victims were a group of Islamic Jihad militants trying to launch a rocket.
The deaths occurred hours after the Islamist movement Hamas which rules Gaza, announced on Monday afternoon that the majority of Palestinian armed factions operating in the band are ready to stop its rocket attacks against Israel if the country theirs and ceased firing. In recent weeks there has been an escalation of violence in Gaza and its surroundings.
Palestinian militants have fired dozens of rockets and mortars at Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip, some of which have fallen on major cities such as Ashdod and Ber Sheva, while Israel has carried out bombings and attacks with tanks in which they killed 14 Palestinians, at least four of them civilians.
